A long time ago, I was with a group of friends choosing music for one of their weddings. We were listening to some 90s song and the groom was like “ah yeah this is a good song” and I laughed and was like “you know this song is about killing yourself, right?” At first he doubted, but then really taken aback, and then looked up the lyrics and, to my understanding, never listened to it again.
I’m trying to remember the song, but can’t. If I do remember, I’ll edit this comment. But yeah, it’s wild how hardly understandable lyrics can dramatically change a songs meaning and feel.

There’s so many from the 90s. Could be 100s of possibilities.
