4 months later: “HP forced to attempt to re-hire staff after disastrous AI adoption plan”
They knew. It’s still a win for them. After 4 months anyone who’s not found new work will HAPPILY take a 30% pay cut. This is an across the board attack on tech worker salaries.
…and the CEO “retires” with full bonuses
I’m sure they’ll find the cost savings where everybody else failed.
HP to use “AI” as cover for sacking 6000 staff.
The references to AI sound more like PR. They are simply going to can positions (and make their product/services worse) and force others to work overtime.
I am willing to bet AI is involved in this firing session in a very superficial manner.
I’m interested, in a fascinated and horrified way, how HP could possibly make their products and services worse. I’m sure they’ll find a way, and I’m sure it’ll be so terrible that none of us will be able to look away. But at the moment I’ll be damned if I can think of how.
It probably gets to pick names from the pre generated spreadsheet of people they don’t give a shit about (which is say all the staff who don’t interact with the C suite).
I don’t mean to be that guy, but that’s the only manner AI could possibly be involved, and the reason I point this out is that it’s not just for the scenario, it’s every one of them. It’s a very often wrong text predictor/referencer at most.
Can you imagine how bad HP implemented AI must be, they can barely put a basic laptop together…
Only 6000?
