Chinese satellites recorded Ukrainian energy infrastructure sites ahead of Russian strikes, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said following a report by Oleh Ivashchenko, Head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, on December 24.

Ukrainian intelligence has identified an increase in Russia’s cooperation with “entities in China that may be providing space reconnaissance data,” according to the president.

“In particular, we are recording an increase in Russia’s ties with entities in China that may be providing space reconnaissance data. Unfortunately, there were correlations between Chinese satellite imaging of Ukrainian territory and Russian strikes on corresponding energy infrastructure facilities,” Zelenskyy said.

“We view such cases as activities that enable Russia to prolong the war and make diplomatic efforts less serious. We will also discuss this issue with our partners,” he concluded.
