We had a fridge that was manufactured in 1998 that lasted until November of last year when it failed irreparably. We replaced it, and 13 months later, 2 days before thanksgiving, our new fridge failed. It was like pulling teeth to get the warranty servicer to get it repaired.

Repairman finally figured out what was wrong with it yesterday, replaced the seized up defroster and it’s running again.

That’s still so ridiculous for an appliance to break that early in its lifetime.

The account has all the classic traits of the thousands of LLM bots I’ve flagged on reddit. I had suspicions when I first seen the comment, and a deeper look is definitely convincing me both of these accounts are inorganic.

Don’t consider. Do it. It might get buried or stifled in government proceedings but there will at least be some media coverage on it. It will show that you tried.

Why are they calling it a drug boat? It was never verified as a drug boat.

Why can they instead say “repeats falsehoods” instead of “lies” because of legal ramifications but can call this vessel a “drug boat” without any confirmation that it had narcotics on it?

Yeah, no shit that the Republicans will shoot it down, block it, never let it see the light of day. But at this point, it’s not about whether or not it will pass or even get looked at. It’s about putting it on the record that they tried. So that in the future, when historians are writing about the U.S.'s descent into fascism, they can also be aware of the efforts that were put forth to stop it, even if it was futile.

What they can do in the present is this: waste their time. Waste their time having to look over the proceedings, and then waste some more of their time with the press asking them why they’re blocking it. Gum up the gears. Do something.

Melon husk is definitely, 100% a bot. Displays all of the hallmarks of bot activity and language, as well as futile attempts to try to disguise itself by inserting small grammatical mistakes. Seen countless accounts like that on reddit.

What a bizarre pattern of behavior, though I guess I can see the angle they’re going for in terms of ban/block evasion. Just seems like a massive waste of time.

Though I also recall thinking the same thing when I first came across the bots on reddit years ago… Ugh, it’s coming full circle.

Very strange that OP joined Lemmy barely an hour ago and hit the ground running posting rapid fire articles within minutes of each other or within the same minute, targeting multiple states and countries (So far, Alabama, New York, Ohio, California, Canada, and Ireland). Just very odd behavior for a new account.

I read it and I’m still not convinced. I’ve lived with these MAGA types for decades. I’d been forced to be around Fox News and right wing pundit rhetoric for decades. The media they consume are not reporting any of Trump’s or his wider administrations shortfalls. Even on the very, very rare occasions that they do, the MAGAs smugly declare that Fox News is owned by Chinese communists and stop watching for like a week (one of my relatives actually said/did this immediately after Jan 6).

And from what I’ve gathered from the breathless Facebook posts of these people within the last week, everything involving Epstein and Trump is a hoax. New York City is reaching Portland-levels of imaginary death and destruction because of the new mayor. And the dismissal of the case against James Comey and Letitia James was unconstitutional, somehow.

I’m not trying to be pessimistic or cynical. I’m just going off what has happened in the past and what I’m seeing them saying and doing right now. Some of these people are too far gone to accept that they might have made many, many wrong decisions, and they will continue to blame Democrats for their self-inflicted suffering.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read headlines like this.

I’ll believe it when my MAGA relatives turn their backs on Fox News and Trump. Until then, this is weapons grade hopium.
