You’re answering as if this current tension was not caused entirely by the US deciding to upend the global order and morph into a bully pirate nation that threatens allies chasing the new Monroe Doctrine.

If they choose the military option, rather than return to a sane global political and economic order - the insanity of which is entirely their fault - then we will have the measure of the nation, and they will surely usher in a rapid descent.

If Dems want to win, they need more than ‘not Republicans… but essentially the same’. They need to be active and they need to be seen. Loud and visibly against this regime and everything that enabled it. They need small dollar donations, ditch the corporate donors. They need to get themselves arrested protesting ICE or, ideally, actively resisting them.

Donald Trump is the obvious endpoint of pseudopopulist anti-intellectual conservatism. Thankfully the US got there first, so we can all see where the conservatives around the world are headed.
